Stuart has been active in London Labour Party politics for over twenty years, including sixteen years as a councillor. A former parliamentary candidate, he was until May 2022 Deputy Leader of an outer London Borough and the cabinet member with responsibility for the council's finances. He is now Leader of the Labour Group.

A passionate supporter of community led regeneration and a champion of improving local environments and creating healthier communities. Stuart previously ran an award winning events business that brought together politics and industry. Stuart is married with three children.
